Allie Bolea

allieHello jerks of the interweb…my name is Allie B!  I am the ‘self-appointed’ “Vice President” of Trek of Pittsburgh and my obsession for bicycles came to as a belated but strong start.

It began a few years ago while simply cruising around Pitt on my bangin’ 7 speed Murry Street Cycle which was given to me one Easter by my parents.  Hilarious.  I received a phone call from a friend of mine with an offer to work at a bike shop as a summer job.  I was unemployed and anxious at the time, so i willingly accepted.  This is where my obsession really grew into a problem.  Needless to say, my experience at TOP has been an enjoyable one.  I went from owning one bike (my loyal “diamond-in-the-rough” Murray) to owning a whole cornucopia of bikes in a matter of a summer.  The majority of my riding time is spent strolling around the city of Pittsburgh, getting from point A to point B and other stops along the way; however, that doesn’t mean I don’t enjoy a good mountain ride or road ride every once in a while.  I was introduced to mountain biking a year or two ago and can’t get enough.  I’ve also recently gone camping on my bicycle and project that it will be a common occurrence this summer.  To me, there is nothing more exciting and liberating than just getting on your bike, and going.  Routes become limitless, along with destinations.  There is just something so appealing about getting where you need to be off of your own [wo]man power leg juice (yeah, i don’t know).  It’s the feeling of freedom.  Seeing the world is much more enjoyable and splendid on a bicycle.  There really is no better way to move.allie-2

That’s about it, nothing too exciting.  I’ve never considered myself a “blogger” or envisioned myself doing such things, but I decided to battle my nerves and give it a shot.  I suppose we’ll just have to wait and see!
